VIM3 loops constantly, unable to enter upgrade mode, unable to boot krescue, unable to boot ssd, unable to boot emmc.

Please advice me on what I can do, thank you very much

Hey @foxsquirrel, I checked the power supply, and it is 5V. Strangely, I am able to enter kbi when powered from laptop, but still can’t boot into OS

@numbqq Yes of course I used one of those on SD, namely (2), but it doesn’t seem to read from SD. I also tried it with this emmc build (1), but then I am stuck with the loop shown below:

Have you tried a different SD card and make sure before laying down an image that it has been fully erased not a quick erase.

@foxsquirrel yes I tried both using a different SD card and also made sure it has been fully erased before etching the new image
Should I erase the eMMC storage as well? That won’t turn the board to a brick will it

Have you tried to boot using Krescue on SD. That should work and use the wizard to install the OS.

@foxsquirrel Yes I tried that, but the only thing I see is the serial log I sent above. The Krescue image is not loadded from the SD. Just making sure I did things right, this is the krescue image I etched on to the SD card

WOL is enabled, you need to press POWER button to bootup.

@numbqq do you need I have to turn WOL off? I have always pushed the power button when booting up

@foxsquirrel a moment ago I got krecue to work, and downloaded a ubuntu from there, but as soon as I reboot it can’t fucntion normally, and I get this message instead. I did remove the krescue card when rebooting.

Error with DDR boot
In another attemp of having emmc flashed with uboot, while ddr flashed with the kernel 4.9 server ubuntu img, the system repeats once again, and this message is shown before the system repeats

Get another USB c cable and cut the end off and connect it directly to a lab grade power supply. Larger diameter wire is + and the braid is -.

HDMI chip has 4.8V minimum voltage. It takes a good stiff power source since the ARM is so fast the instantaneous current requirement is challenging for most wall plug power supplies. Another issue is cheap USB cables, some are using the small signal wires for the power. Let ohms law guide you on that one.

Possibly download the Uboot for the VIM3 and install that with Krescue then re-install the OS into memory. Or, this might be the best way just fully erase emmc with krescue then use wizard to install.

Don’t know what the exact problem is now, its mush easier to start over from scratch because when the power glitches it could very well have corrupted something.

I did as you instructed, erased eMMC FULL, then boot up the wizard. It seems to be complaining something about the partition
