Uploading update.img from AOSP for VIM4 doesn't seem to overwrite OOWOW

I followed the documentation here: Building Android Source Code | Khadas Documentation

to build AOSP for vim4 - which worked beautifully.

And then I followed the documentation here:

This seemed to work, but after the vim4 rebooted, it went back to oowow and I was never able to get the compiled android 11 to boot.

Is there a work around for this?

Thanks for the response Frank, are there plans to eventually support AOSP on the VIM4?
