New Edge-V no mic input BT

@JustSumDad No, no, no, you didn’t follow my instructions. My verification is OK. Don’t think about it. There must be something wrong with your operation. Please check by yourself.

yes, it was a permission, I forgot to give permission to storage, you are correct.
Yes it did record!

ok, how can I make this work with the google assistant now?

Thank you

The firmware I have given now is standard and supports Bluetooth mic. If you use the so-called app to verify that there is no sound, it only means that the app does not support Bluetooth mic.

As you have said:
“It may not be accurate for you to verify this app on your tablet or mobile phone. Because the distance is generally close”

When I use my phone or tablet on my motorcycle it is stored under the seat and the microphone is in my helmet. The speed is generally 100kph and there is no way the mic on the device is picking me up…

However it appears you need absolute proof of this. Since my test tablet has a bad charge port I am willing to take a power tool and fully physcially remove the mic from the tablet. I can then make a video to show you that the device will not work without a Bluetooth mic.
will this suffice to show you that the applictaion is designed to work in this setup?

I can it appears get the apk with an apk extractor or it can be downloaded from apkpure(dot)com but I dont think it will work in China due to geofence limitations imposed by the gov there so I doubt this will help. Also I really dont want you to get in any trouble there and I have no idea how things work when the Chinese gov restricts software as in this case.

Yes. In fact, I need you to do such an experiment.

Let’s give feedback on the results of the above experiment, and then let’s take a look at this step. Otherwise, if the above experiments verify my conjecture, then this step is meaningless.

ok, I disconnected the microphone, showed in the video how I did so. tested with BT and without, with the BT speaker switched off, NOTHING works, with the BT speaker on it works.
The video is 406mb tho
I normally use MS one drive to share things like this, but I think that is blocked in china…

please let me know if this worked for you

@JustSumDad I watched the video. Please send me the relevant APK for verification!

they are here:

@JustSumDad I have verified the two apks you sent me. The verification on our board is OK. See the video of the two links above. Maybe app needs such a setting. I set it like this(These two interfaces are in Google assistant settings). In addition, I have not installed this app: lesser audioswitch.

the audio switch app was only to force the BT on the samsung tablet. I did try it on the Vim3 and edgeV tho.

I was never able to find the default assist app setting…

I will look and test again today.

thank you

yes!!! this worked! took me some time to find the voice page, but I realized by your screen shots you searched it with the term “voice” so I did the same.

Ok, I have one last thing, the assistant now works and that is GREAT!!!

I need the google maps apk to work, for some reason it does not listen to me.

I have added those apk to the folder I linked before. https://bit.ly/3bJOHYn

Could you please have a look?

there are two versions as I did not know what one to get, nodpi and 160-240dpi

Thank you

@JustSumDad It seems that the Google maps you uploaded does not support Bluetooth mic. You need to find a version that supports Bluetooth mic. In addition, the code has been updated, you can synchronize the Bluetooth mic code.

Yes I tested google maps on the tablet with the onboard mic removed, it did have the same issue.
I can still work with the android assistant for the most part but will have to perform some touch screen actions and will not be able to achieve my dream of a fully hands free android GPS system on my motorcycle :frowning:

I still want to thank you for your assistance with this project, it has been invauable!
