Mind Graphics RTX 4060 Ti GPU driver no longer recognized after xPlay Firmware 1.01 update – regression from previously working state

Dear Khadas Support Team,

I am writing to report a new issue that appeared immediately after updating the xPlay firmware to version 1.01 via the Mind App.

My setup:

  • Mind 1 (i7-1360P)

  • Mind Graphics (RTX 4060 Ti 8GB)

  • Mind xPlay

  • Windows 11 Home 24H2 (OS Build 26100.7840)

  • Mind App: V1.60 | EC: V1.2 (updated manually from V1.02 package as guided in the community thread) | xPlay Firmware: 1.01

Issue: After updating the xPlay firmware to 1.01, the RTX 4060 Ti GPU in the Mind Graphics is no longer recognized when connected via Mind Link. HDMI output does not function. Every time I open the Mind App, the following error prompt appears repeatedly regardless of how many times I restart:

(The Mind App is localized in Japanese; the following is the original Japanese text and my translation)

【Original Japanese】再起動が必要 — グラフィックカードのデバイスが正しく読み込まれていません。デバイスを再起動してもう一度お試しください

【English translation】“Reboot Required — The graphics card device has not loaded correctly. Please reboot the device and try again.”

The Mind App does recognize the Mind Graphics unit itself (audio through its built-in speaker works), but the GPU driver fails to resolve — the driver for the RTX 4060 Ti cannot be loaded, causing the GPU to be completely non-functional.

Important context — this is a regression:

  • Before the xPlay firmware 1.01 update, swapping between Mind xPlay and Mind Graphics via Mind Link worked without any issues.

  • The Mind x Mind xPlay combination continues to work correctly even after the firmware update.

  • The problem is isolated to Mind x Mind Graphics after applying xPlay firmware 1.01.

Community thread reference: This issue is a follow-up to an existing thread where I have been reporting related problems and received EC update support from your team:

My relevant posts in that thread:

I have not changed any other settings or drivers between the xPlay firmware update and the onset of this issue. Please let me know what logs or diagnostics would be helpful, and I will provide them promptly.

Thank you.

Hello @Yu_Hooke

Please download the graphics card patch through the link below and install it manually (connect Mind to Graphics, and connect HDMI to the HDMI port on the back of Mind).

Hello,

Thank you for the patch link. I downloaded khadas-nv-43-fix.zip, extracted it, and ran the .bat file as administrator with Mind connected to Mind Graphics and HDMI connected to Mind’s rear HDMI port, as you instructed.

The bat exited immediately with the following message:

“No Nvidia GPUs found. Please attach one and ensure it’s driver is installed.
Press any key to exit …”

The situation has not improved. The Mind App still shows the same error as before.

I did some additional checks on my side. Here is what I found:

=== Device Manager ===

When Mind is connected to Mind Graphics, Display adapters shows:

  • Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics (the iGPU, normal)
  • Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

The RTX 4060 Ti does not appear by name. The Microsoft Basic Display Adapter entry shows:

  • Location: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0
  • Status: Code 10, with the message “The driver this device is attempting to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter.”
  • Hardware ID begins with PCI\VEN_10DE

For reference: when Mind is connected to Mind xPlay, Microsoft Basic Display Adapter does not appear at all. It only shows up with Mind Graphics.

The Events tab on this entry shows:

  • 4/18: Device was removed
  • 5/20 (first Mind Graphics reconnect after xPlay firmware 1.01 update): Installation was requested, Device was configured, Device was not started (Base Display)

=== Driver Store ===

I ran pnputil /enum-drivers | findstr /i "nvidia" and the output contains 6 NVIDIA-related lines (3 with provider “NVIDIA” and 3 with provider “NVIDIA Corporation”). I can send the full output if you need it.

=== Steps I have already tried ===

  1. 8-second power button hold for forced re-detection (per user manual Notes). The Mind Graphics indicator light flashed, I restarted, but no change.
  2. Full power cycle: shutdown, Mind Graphics AC unplugged for 60+ seconds, Mind removed and reseated, powered back on. No change.
  3. Uninstalled Microsoft Basic Display Adapter via Device Manager with “Delete the driver software” option, then restarted. It reappears with the same Code 10 error.
  4. Confirmed Mind operates normally on Mind xPlay – the issue is isolated to the Mind + Mind Graphics combination.

=== Mind App ===

When the GPU is not detected, the Mind App immediately shows the dialog “Reboot Required – The graphics card device has not loaded correctly. Please reboot the device and try again.” The dialog only has a Restart button and blocks all other operations in the Mind App. I cannot reach the driver install flow (Go & Install / Update Now / Install Now) from this state.

=== Request ===

Could you advise on the next step? I am happy to provide the full pnputil output, Device Manager screenshots, event log entries, or any other diagnostics you need.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Hooke

Hello @Yu_Hooke

Thank you for providing more information. Based on your feedback, your system does not appear to be the official Khadas factory pre-installed system, and the NVIDIA graphics driver is missing.

Please first follow the connection method described above to install the graphics driver:https://dl.khadas.com/products/mind-graphics-2/drivers/581.80-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe

Then execute the patch installation steps again.

Hello,

Thank you for the driver link.

Before I install it, could you confirm one thing? The URL you sent points to “mind-graphics-2”:

https://dl.khadas.com/products/mind-graphics-2/drivers/581.80-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe

My unit is the original Mind Graphics with the RTX 4060 Ti, not Mind Graphics 2. Looking at the download site, I found this driver under the “mind-graphics” path instead:

https://dl.khadas.com/products/mind-graphics/drivers/576.52-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe

Should I use this 576.52 one for my RTX 4060 Ti rather than the 581.80 under mind-graphics-2? I want to make sure I install the right driver before proceeding.

Thank you.

Hello @Yu_Hooke

Both drivers are compatible with Graphics 1. You can also download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA official website, but different driver versions may have certain stability issues.

Thank you, this resolved the issue. Reporting back in case it helps:

  1. Installed the NVIDIA driver from the link you provided, then restarted.

  2. After the restart there was still no video output, so I forced a shutdown (8-second power button hold) and powered the device back on.

  3. On this boot, the Mind App popped up a dialog saying the driver was not loaded correctly and prompted me to update. I followed the Mind App’s guided flow to apply the patch to the driver, then restarted again.

  4. After this restart, the GPU was fully recovered. Device Manager now shows the RTX 4060 Ti correctly, and HDMI output from the Mind Graphics port works.

A few additional confirmations:

  • The Mind App showed a firmware update available for Mind Graphics, so I updated it from 1.01 to 1.09.
  • The FINAL FANTASY XV benchmark completed without issues (High quality, WQHD, fullscreen).
  • I swapped Mind onto Mind xPlay and then reconnected it to Mind Graphics again, and everything worked correctly. No regression.
