Hi @Juriy_N,
Method 1: Connect I2S via USB-C (I2S)
Yes, use green marked, GND must be connected.
That’s right.
Method 2: Connect I2S via 40Pin comb
No,Due to the difference hardware design, Tone2’s firmware is different to Tone2 Pro.
Firmware | Compatible |
---|---|
CPLD | No |
MCU | No |
XMOS | No |
If use this method, you need:
- Hardware connect
- I2S signal
- GND
- VIM_I2S_DECT connect to 3.3V
- Modify cpld and mcu firmware
- Upgrade this fimware, mcu firmware could upgrade via USB, CPLD firmware upgrade via dedicated burner, you could check here
We’re planning to update Tone’s firmware soon, focusing on the MCU and XMOS. If you have special requirements for the CPLD, we can update it separately and send it to you, but it won’t be released publicly for compatibility reasons. If you have any good idea, please let me know, please note your idea here. However, firmware releases won’t be immediate. Besides firmware releases, we also conduct functional testing and verify compatibility with multiple devices, which is quite time-consuming. It may be released before February 2026. This update will impact: Tone2 (MCU + XMOS), Tone2 Pro (MCU + XMOS), BT Magic, Tea, and the Khadas Audio app.
Regards,
