Extreme cooling help

Nice, let the thermal benchmark begin !!! (sorry restart as it has been discussed before :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

One word to describe it, ā€œbottleneckā€

I use all 4, i want to add better cooling to all, VIM2, VIM3L, EDGE-V and VIM3

Been there done that - got it published in electronics weekly as well https://www.electronicsweekly.com/news/cool-runnings-heat-dissipation-crypto-currency-miner-2018-01/

(Used odroid XU4s - ssshhhh donā€™t tell khadas )

ssshhhhh mate, I bet you donā€™t want to tell that to Odroid that you used a Khadas VIM eitherā€¦ :joy:

I would want one of those in the winter, saves a ton on on home heating

Do you need the sizes of all four processors?

I believe you can get that data on the datasheet of the processerā€¦

please give a link to the document, thanks, maybe he canā€™t find

How much different are they?

If i were to buy 4 copper pads isnt there a size that would fit all 4 give or take a few mm eah way?

Well Edge is a biggg boy, 21x21 mm,

all others should be smaller than that, you can try to use a small ruler to check the size

they differ in size
:slightly_smiling_face:

oh yeah i forgot about the edge, how about jusy S912, S905 and S311D

need to watch, buddy

It looked pretty as well with all its twinkling lights in the oil! Super quiet as well. Is a good solution for cooling things quietly. Expensive to do for one or a small number of boards though, but cheap cooling at scale

I use 20mm square heatsinks on my vim2 and vim3 - so that size probably works

Actually ignore that they are 14mm square https://uk.rs-online.com/mobile/p/heatsinks/6744740/

Cool, are you using copper pads?

I was gona start with the new VIM sink, then try the passive with a different fan

No, but a 14mm square copper shim should work

Use heat conductive (1.1W/mK) epoxy for mounting - thatā€™s good stuff if you want a perm fix

 Ionic Wind Cooling!

But my passive heatsink now keeps below 75Ā°C in all conditions

Isnā€™t the VIM3ā€™s max temp limit 80Ā°C ?
