What to choose for CarPC with VESA resolutions?

I need buy new board for my CarPC. And very big problem is VESA resolution. I need 1280x800 and 1920x1200 resolutions. @terry, Which board is better for this (VIM3 / VIM3L / EDGE)? For which of them is everything better implemented and can I build custom firmware?
For my old VIM2 board i have build custom firmware with next features:

  1. VESA - working but with problem after cold boot. I think you know about this. Maybe VIM3 doesn’t have this issue?
  2. GPS - I have integrated custom GPS HAL
  3. USB microphone
