VIM4 Android external screen with non-standard resolution

Which version of system do you use? Khadas official images, self built images, or others?

Khadas official Android image, on a VIM4 device

Please describe your issue below:

When plugging in a display screen with 1920x540 resolution (32:9 ratio, i.e. unusually squat and wide) the resolution is detected as 16:9 ratio, resulting in a distorted image (circles appear as flattened ellipses)

I’ve read through several similar topics on these forums (as a new user I’m not allowed to link to them unfortunately)

  • “Resolution 1920x720” (Feb 2020)
  • “VIM4 custom resolution on Android” (Dev 2022)
  • “VIM4 and OOWOW custom non-standard display resolution problem” (May 2023)

None of them seem to have reached a solution, but it’s been a year so I thought I’d check whether there’s been improvements in this direction.

Here’s the output of edid-decode and dmesg, in case it helps:

Has anyone found a solution? Thanks.

Hello, we have recently received feedback regarding the issue of adapting to a resolution of 1920x720. We are already purchasing screens with this resolution and will adapt them as soon as possible. We will have results as soon as possible this month. Please be patient and we apologize for any inconvenience caused

Great, thanks!

Just to be clear our particular use case is 1920x540, but it’s great to hear that you guys are working on supporting more resolutions :+1:
