Khadas official image such as vim3-ubuntu-20.04-server-linux-4.9-fenix-1.5-230425-emmc.img

Please describe your issue below:

We want to upgrade our Khadas from the current 4.9 kernel to the latest 5.15 kernel to support gstreamer HW decoder without a reflash of the image. According to this documentation: VIM3/3L Build Linux Kernel [Khadas Docs], I tried building the 5.15 kernel using fenix and install deb packages but it looks like the board becomes bricked after update.
@numbqq Is it possible to update kernel from 4.9 to 5.15 or other version supporting gstreamer HW decoder ? Is there any relevant reference?

You can’t upgrade the kernel from 4.9 to 5.15 due to there are many difference, you have to reinstall the new image with 5.15 kernel.

Thanks for your reply @numbqq, we have deployed a bacth of khadas in our customers and cannot reflash an image. Is it possible to do partially update the 4.9 kernel to support gstreamer HW decoder ?
