Hello,
reporting an issue per Khadas customer’s support request. The unit affected is the Tone 2 (not pro) makers edition.
Symptom: sudden no audio output
Setup: Connected via usb through Raspberry Pi 4, independently powered by LM7805 based linear voltage regulator. running MOODEAUDIO.
Output is connected to a tube preamplifier then to a set of powered bookshelf speakers. Sounded GREAT when everything was working, suddenly no audio output this morning.
Troubleshooting steps performed:
I have tried changing known good cables - USB and RCA
Made sure speakers are working
I have also tried powering the TB through USB from RPI, bypassing 5v power through GPIO.
tried connecting to a PC instead - no avail, ipad (USB-C iPad Pro) - no avail.
Updated firmware
Made sure input was set to either “Auto” or “USB”
Ensured volume is max
Please advise
Edit: Also bypassed tube preamp as one of the first steps.
Hi
Do you have S/PDIF out decoder? If you have, you can try to connect it to tone2 by coaxial cable, and turn the input souce to S/PDIF as the following picture showing.
I’m sorry i don’t have any way to accept a S/PDIF coaxial signal. I only have RCA. However, I have confirmed that the input setting on the encoder is set to “auto”. I also tried to force it to use “USB” with the same result - no audio output.
I can send it to you to check the hardware. Since this should be covered under warranty, will you cover shipping costs? How long do you think this process will take?
This unit was purchased on June 7 2024, and received on July 7 2024. I have had it less than one month before this issue started. Is there some sort of return or exchange policy? Please understand that I am very happy with the unit when it was working. Beautiful board, beautiful sound. I would like to keep the same product if possible but am concerned that the one I got stopped working less than one month after I received it.
