For Edge2 atv firmware I built, you can’t place a widget on the desktop on phone launchers
Can try lawnchair launcher
If I root and try this
su
appwidget grantbind --package app.lawnchair.nightly
then widgets can work on the launcher
Anyway to run a startup script to do this on the first boot automatically?
I tried but seems it doesn’t work, only if done manually.
I read Android 14 also has different ways to grant widget permissions.
Google blocks widgets somewhere in the frameworks if it detects isTv or feature leanback. Maybe if someone can find where to modify it, it will help otherwise an automatic script would also work perhaps.
This is not a problem on tablet firmware, only atv/box.
