About MQA render firmware, we do not release this version,but we has made tone2 maker kit open source, if you need, you can see this announcement .Of course,the flashing operation can be reversible.It can be done by khadas tone firmware update.

Thank you for this message. You said that the MQA firmware cannot be provided by Khadas but that the Tone 2 maker kit is open source: does it means that Khadas would provide the MQA source code to someone that would like to create a specific firmware? I am not aware about what the open source terms can offer to developers.

May I ask you another question: is it possible to manage the Tone 2 Maker using only software (I mean without the need to use the rotary encoder) ?
I t seems that it is possible to do that, but could you confirm this point please: I would like to use the Tone 2 board with the Moode Audio software which I think one the best DAc management software from the audio point of view. In that respect, I can change the volume level from Moode but I would also like to change the ESS filter selection for example: is it possible ?

The Moode Audio maybe support, but i haven’t test this, you could have a try.
For the DAC(ESS9038Q2M) controlled by Tone2’s MCU(I2C), it need to develop the Moode Audio system to support filter and volume control(or more function you want to control).

The opensource info please see this, it include mcu(stm8s003f3) and xmos(xu208) code and develop info.

ESS filter selection can not be controlled by Moode Audio, you can control it by Khadas audio APP through BT Magic, we are recently developing actively.
