Mind Graphics sound dropout during gaming

When testing the Mind Graphics, which I’ve had for a few weeks now, together with the Mind 2, I noticed that after about 45-60 minutes of gaming there is suddenly no more sound coming out of the Mind Graphics. I can’t identify the cause at the moment, but I suspect it’s due to high temperature?
Often the only thing that helps here is to shut down and disconnect from the power supply. Once it was suddenly there again after loading a new level. Under normal conditions (desktop, YouTube…) the problem does not occur. Is the problem known?

Hello @amused

Sorry for the issues. When the issue occured does the sound can recovery by press the volume +/- key?

Could you provide the game to us? We will try to reproduce this issue on our side.

Hello @numbqq
I have only tried it with two games, but it was always repeatable. The two games were Doom (2016) and Devil May Cry 5.
I didn’t try the volume buttons, but the volume slider in Windows and it had no effect.
I’ll try the buttons and reply.

I wanted to try it out again the other day to see if pressing the volume buttons made a difference and of course the sound cut-outs didn’t occur, even though I had been playing both games for an hour.

Today I tried another game and after about 45 minutes the sound stopped. Pressing the volume buttons had no effect. The problem could only be solved by restarting and unplugging the device.

I load the games via an external Samsung SSD that is connected to the Mind V2 via USB-C. Could this be the reason? However, games run absolutely smoothly regardless of whether the sound stops or not.

Hello @amused

We also checked on our side and can’t reproduce this issue with the same games on our side.

Could you try to install the games on the internal SSD and check again ?

I installed another game (God of War 2022), but this time on the internal SSD. Played for over an hour without any dropouts. Later I tried another game on the external SSD that had sound dropouts last time and it also had no sound dropouts.

The external SSD is a Samsung 850 Pro which should be more than fast enough via USB-C for these games.

What surprises me, however, is that the Mind Graphics has to be disconnected from the power supply for the sound to be output again. If the Mind is still connected to the Graphics when the problem occurs, the sound output remains off. Even when the Mind pc is undocked and redocked, the sound output remains off. No errors are displayed in the device manager etc.

Did you played in 4k with graphic settings maxed out or at least all on high?

We will check on our side.

I also reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver. Just in case something went wrong when I updated via express install, which didn’t seem to be the case.
Will report back.

@numbqq
My return window for the Mind Graphics 16 GB ends after 18. January.
Could this be somehow hardware related? If so, it might make sense to exchange it for a replacement.
