Mind Dock HDMI Display Issues

I got the Mind and Dock last month on the around the 16th and only just recently gotten the chance to set everything up.

Before I did a fresh Windows reinstall to Pro addition, I started the Mind and ran the Mind App to ensure the latest firmware was installed the Mind, the Mind Dock, as well as updated the BIOS.

With that done, I did a fresh install of Windows 11 to Pro edition, installed all drivers, Windows updates, and the Mind App again. Got everything working again including the fingerprint reader. So far, so good.

Then came adding a second monitor. I have two identical Dell monitors, and two brand new HDMI cables (new shorter cables). The HDMI port on the right (as I’m facing the front of the dock), was the one I had been using so far. When I plugged in the second monitor, the screen was shakey and wasn’t working right.

I tried a reboot, but on start up, on the Khadas loading screen, the monitor on the left port had red/blue/green pixels flashing randomly all over the screen.

I tried swapping the inputs, and the same issues started happening on the other monitor.

I tried plugging one monitor into the good port, and the other monitor into the Mind directly, and this worked. Both monitors are fine.

I tried plugging the monitor in the right port to the left port, and got the issues again.

Not sure if this is a firmware issue or if this dock just has a bad port.

Hello @nwayve

Could you try to install the latest Intel Graphics drivers from the Intel website to check again?

Thanks.

Yes, I’ve already tried this using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. When I go to the website, it says, “Your Intel drivers and software are up to date.” In a green header.
Khadas Mind
BIOS v1.1
MB Mind-K1014-PCB V13
OS Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (10.0.22631)
Intel ARC Control v1.79.5632.2

If I unplug from the Mind and into the dock, the screen goes blank and never comes back up.
If I leave it and reboot, the screen comes on but is glitchy.

Hello @nwayve

Could you try to follow the documentation to upgrade the HDMI firmware ?

Documentation: https://dl.khadas.com/products/mind-dock/hdmi/mind-dock-hdmi-firmware-upgrade-tutorial.pdf
Tool & firmware: https://dl.khadas.com/products/mind-dock/hdmi/dock-hdmi-v1.10-240827.zip

I undocked the Mind, connected the power to it directly, along with a single monitor, and keyboard/mouse. Then i powered it on.
I connected the other monitor to the bad HDMI port of the Mind Dock.
I connected the Mind to the Dock.
Downloaded the zip file and extracted the files.
Ran the AuxUpdate.exe as admin.
PS186 AuxUpdate V22.01.04.01
Clicked Get Firmware Info
Got an error:
OperateCardLib
DPCD read error code: 48000014
I clicked OK and the error pops up again.
Continued to click OK and it continued giving errors (5 times) until I got the error:
AuxUpdate
OUI mismatch!
Clicked OK

Additional Notes:

  • The download link is mispelled
    /hmdi should be /hdmi
    The mispelled link works though
  • Running the executable as admin gives a warning from UAC that it’s from an unknown publisher.

Sorry for the issues, our after-sales team will contact you and I will send you a private message later please check and reply.

Thanks.
