KTB1 Loud pop noise on powering on/off - Has it been fixed yet?

Hi everyone,

I’ve had a KTB1 for a few years now, and while I’m happy with the sound quality, I’ve had this consistent issue. Whenever I power on my active speakers before turning on the computer (which the KTB1 is connected to), I hear a loud and unsettling “pop” noise.

Because of this, I’m hesitant to use it with my more expensive speakers. To avoid the pop, I have to make sure all amps and speakers are turned off before powering on the KTB1, which isn’t always convenient.

Has this issue been addressed in any newer firmware or workarounds? Or is this something I’ll just have to live with?

Thanks

Hi @Mio25,
Based on the current design, we have not yet come up with a better solution. We will try software adjustment later: set the DAC volume to the lowest when starting up to see if this problem can be optimized. Thank you for your feedback and support for the product.

kenny

Sorry, but it is common audiophile wisdom to power on the power amp last and to power off the power amp first. Before I connect or disconnect my KTB1 to or from my Macbook I put first the volume to zero on my preamp. Then all is fine, no pop at all. I don’t see any issue or fault with the KTB1.
