Khadas VIM3 FAN

Hey,

I’ve attached the Khadas FAN to my VIM3 and nothing seems to happen.
I’m running Ubuntu https://dl.khadas.com/Firmware/VIM3/Ubuntu/SD_USB/VIM3_Ubuntu-server-bionic_Linux-5.5-rc2_arm64_SD-USB_V0.8.2-20200103.7z image.

I’ve tried manually enabling it with fan=mid in /boot/env.txt then sync and reboot:

# Cooling FAN mode
# auto - auto schedule the FAN speed depend on the CPU temperature
# low - FAN low speed
# mid - FAN middle speed
# high - FAN high speed
fan_mode=mid

But didn’t help. Has anyone have any ideas how to test the fan? Thanks!

Hello @povilasv

I have checked this image, the FAN works well.

Can you double check the connection?

And you can try these commands to setup FAN dirrectly without reboot:

$ fan.sh low
$ fan.sh mid
$ fan.sh high

That worked, thank you :wink:

Hi their

I am having issues with the fan on a khadas vim3 using VIM3_Ubuntu-gnome-focal_Linux-5.7-rc7_arm64_SD-USB_V0.9-20200530 updated. Also had issue with VIM3_Ubuntu-gnome-focal_Linux-5.12_arm64_SD-USB_V1.0.5-210430.img.xz. When you update ie sudo apt upgrade then reboot i only got two settings for fan in gui and fan.sh maunal and auto. when i type fan.sh low med or high it throws up the following errors

Hopefully someone can come up with a solution to this because manual is insanely loud and auto just is annoying. I have modified the standard heatsink and fan and included copper shims decent thermal paste and found that even under full load on low fan setting its stays around 40c mark using the 4 high end cores. Hence why i want the low fan setting.
