Help... I broke My VIM1S - Error "No Space Oops"

Which system do you use? Android, Ubuntu, OOWOW or others

OOWOW

Which version of system do you use? Please provide the version of the system here:

VIM1S

Please describe your issue below:

I managed to delete the EMMC partitions when I tried to move to Armbian from Ubuntu. I did this from inside OOWOW. Now, when I try to install any OS version from the list, I am presented with the error “No Space Oops”. Is there a simple guide that I can follow to restore the drive (EMMC) so that OOWOW can install the OS?
I didn’t find any info here on how to do this. I tried ‘standard’ Linux commands to remake the deleted partitions but that didn’t work either. It could be because I’m new at Linux and don’t know the correct terminology to use in my search.

Hello @LastDab

Could you provide the full kernel log and screenshot you have ?

Thank you for you inquiry… I’ve been playing around and tried a different OS. To my surprise, I was able to install Ubuntu XFCE. Ubuntu XFCE appears to be smaller than Armbian which allowed it to install.

Is there a link that I could use to learn the proper way to swap the OS?

Thanks

Nothing special, you can install all os list in the menu online. What’s your oowow version?Could you provide a screen you cant install the os ?

OK I got to oowow by holding the FUN button and touching the RST button then releasing the FUN button. It then booted into oowow.

Displayed at the top of the screen:

OOWOW beta 241112.000 | VIM1S | host vim1s-00a6 | downloading stop all

From the Main Menu > Wizard

I tried to install Armbian 25.11.1 xfce and it failed “no space oops” (as its 1.5G I think)

I tried Armbian 25.11.1 gnome and it failed also (1.3G)

I tried Armbian 25.11.1 trixie minimal and got the “download” option (305M)

So to me this seems to be memory issue. To get a sense of the memory limitation, I tried to install ubuntu 24.04 xfce and got the “download” option. As this version’s size is 957.3M, it appears that I’m limited to an OS of about 1G?

I can take photos of the screen. What one(s) would be helpful?

Thanks again

Hello @LastDab

Thanks for your feedback, we will check this issue.

@hyphop can you check?

Yes, this is expected.

At this moment, the workaround is to use SD/USB removable storage as temporary space for the installation image (see “Low RAM size” instructions above).

try this solution Low RAM size [Khadas Docs]

PS: In the next version we will improve this situation and add additional options, such as writing the image on-the-fly without temporary RAM storage, and possibly other solutions. Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
