Can't boot from USB Ubuntu 24.04 image

Edge2/ooWOW/Ubuntu 24.04.01 LTS

I want to use Ubuntu 24.04.01 LTS and built a USB image with the .iso (from https://ubuntu.com/download/server/arm) but can’t boot from the USB.

  1. trying to boot the device with the USB results in an error in oowow saying that no valid boot device was found

  2. I’ve reset the device and tried to press fun 3 times to place it in update mode, but then pressing power does nothing. Only reset does something but results in 1)

Yes, I can boot with the fenix builds, but I need to use the official ubuntu image.

Can you advise ?

Hello @vascoveiga

It is not supported to boot the Ubuntu official iso image.

Thanks @numbqq.
That’s unfortunate. So, for ubuntu I have to use the builds you guys provide?
What is supported to boot/install from USB? (windows?, other distros?)
To be clear, I want to install a new distro from a USB, not boot and run from USB.

Yes.

You can use oowow to do this:

  1. Boot into oowow - Press FUNC key and short press RESET
  2. Copy image to USB storage with fat32/exfat filesystem
  3. Follow documentation to restore system from the USB storage
