Can the edge-v be powered by a 3.7v powerbank?

Hello.

I would like to know if the edge-v can be powered directly with this power bank :

its voltage is 3.7v. Thanks.

Hello @Mario_Marietto

Edge-V needs a 24W PD adaptor, if your powerbank support PD protocol it should work, as we dont test such powerbank so you have to check on your side.

That powerbank supports “Quick Charge 3.0 and PD until 22.5W”. So not until 24W. Is it good anyway ? And anyway,I asked if the Edge-V can be powered with a voltage of 3.7v,because usually I power it via USB-C so,with a voltage of 5v.

I’ve asked to ChatGPT :

Can I power on the Edge-V using the VulTech Power Bank VPB-WP10BK ?

Bro replied like this :

Short answer: Yes — but only if you use the VPB-WP10BK’s USB-C PD/QC output (not a plain USB-A 5V port) and it can negotiate an output the Edge-V accepts. The Khadas Edge-V expects 5–20 V (USB-C PD supported), with Khadas recommending about 5 V @ ≥2 A as a typical supply. dl.khadas.com+1

Why that matters for your VPB-WP10BK

  • The VPB-WP10BK lists QuickCharge/PD outputs (5 V / 9 V / 12 V etc.), so its USB-C/PD port can provide a voltage the Edge-V accepts. That means the power bank is capable in principle. Amazon Belgio+1

  • Use the USB-C PD port and a PD-capable USB-C cable so the powerbank negotiates the correct voltage with the Edge-V. Don’t rely on a USB-A port if you need higher-than-5V PD profiles. Amazon Belgio

Practical cautions

  • Make sure the bank can deliver enough current at the chosen PD voltage. Khadas recommends at least 2 A at 5 V (or choose 9V/12V PD if the bank provides it and the Edge-V accepts that profile). Botland Elettronica+1

  • Many power banks implement an auto-shutoff when the load is very small — an idle Edge-V might draw low current and the bank could turn off. If you see the board powering on then shutting down after a while, this is a common cause.

  • Use a good-quality USB-C PD cable (some cheap cables won’t carry PD properly).

  • For long-term/stationary use I still recommend a dedicated 5V/12V wall adapter that can supply stable current, but for portable or temporary use the VPB-WP10BK should work.

If you want, tell me:

  • Do you plan to power the Edge-V from the powerbank via its USB-C port?

  • Want step-by-step test instructions (what to watch for, what to measure)?

I can walk you through a safe test or help pick settings/cable.
