Yes, the original case was a puzzle. I posted the key to that puzzle here, scroll to bottom of first post. Irrelevant now, as I doubt you will go back to the original case . 
Low fan setting should be adequate for cooling. Either way, your VIM2 has got to be running much cooler now. Good stuff.
