Bluetooth SPP and legacy Android app compatibility

Hello,

I’m considering a VIM1S for a custom vehicle dashboard connected to an HKS OB-LINK 44009-AK001 diagnostic adapter.

Before purchasing, could your technical team confirm:

  1. Does your Android 11 firmware expose Bluetooth Classic SPP/RFCOMM to third-party Android apps through the standard Android Bluetooth APIs?
  2. Can it install and run older 32-bit ARM APKs containing native libraries? Specifically, HKS OB-BRIDGE (jp.co.sbc.app.ObBridge).
  3. Can OB-BRIDGE maintain its Bluetooth connection in the background while a separate dashboard app runs in the foreground?

Please confirm the exact firmware image required. General Bluetooth support or the ability to install APKs alone won’t establish compatibility.

If the VIM1S cannot support this, which of your boards can?

Thank you.

@Oztralian ,
VIM1S Android 11 is a 64-bit system. We don’t have this APK you mentioned. You’d better test it yourself. We’re not sure whether it can run compatibly.

Thanks. The APK itself isn’t the issue I need confirmed.

Does VIM1S running Android 11 support Bluetooth Classic SPP (Serial Port Profile) / RFCOMM connections from third-party Android applications?

For example, can an Android application open an RFCOMM serial connection to an external Bluetooth Classic serial/OBD device?

I only need confirmation of the Bluetooth profile/API support, not compatibility testing with the HKS application.

@Oztralian ,
Our system supports Android native API interfaces. Regarding what you mentioned, could you provide me with a test demo? I can help test and verify it.
