Android Pie image burn fails on Edge-V

I am unable to burn Android Pie image to Edge-V via USB - it gives me following:

gytis@gytis-vm:~/khadas/upgradetool$ sudo ./upgrade_tool ef /home/gytis/Downloads/Edge_Pie_V191205/update.img

Creating Comm Object failed!

gytis@gytis-vm:~/khadas/upgradetool$ sudo ./upgrade_tool ef /home/gytis/Downloads/Edge_Pie_V191205/update.img

Above image is from Firmware page.

I was also unable to burn update.img from Android Pie built myself based on this guide. Bult image is not recognized by Windows AndroidTool_Release_en_v2.58 as well.

Anything I’m missing there regarding Edge-V?

@numbqq, any clues regarding this issue?

For Windows, try using AndroidTool v2.71.
https://github.com/rockchip-linux/tools/blob/master/windows/AndroidTool_Release_v2.71.zip

For Linux, you might be missing the usb drivers

AndroidTool_Release_en_v2.58 ,This version of the tool is too old. Change to a new download tool.
AndroidTool_Release_zh_v2.65

@goenjoy, thanks - using AndroidTool_Release_en_v2.65 successfully burns the image.

However, AndroidTool_Release_en_v2.65.zip recognizes only images provided by Khadas - the one that I’ve built from sources (using this guide) is not recognized - maybe something is wrong with packing process?

It says “Loading Firmware failed”.

With Linux burn tools I get following:

gytis@gytis-vm:~/khadas/edgevutils/utils$ rk-burn-tool -i /home/gytis/khadas/edgev/rockdev/Image-rk3399/update.img
Burn to eMMC...

gytis@gytis-vm:~/khadas/edgevutils/utils$ burn-tool -v rk -i /home/gytis/khadas/edgev/rockdev/Image-rk3399/update.img
Try to burn Rockchip image...

Try to rename the Image-rk3399 folder to Image and copy or paste it to
/edgev/RKTools/linux/Linux_Pack_Firmware/rockdev
Then execute by typing ./mkupdate.sh
Use the Linux_Pack_Firmware/rockdev/update.img generated to flash, not the one inside the Image folder as it’s not signed.

You should upgrade the update.img of this directory

Yes, on the second attempt I used following and it worked :+1:

rk-burn-tool -i /home/gytis/khadas/edgev/RKTools/linux/Linux_Pack_Firmware/rockdev/update.img
