Android 13 - DTS-HD MA Sound Problems, Video Freezes

Which system do you use? Android, Ubuntu, OOWOW or others?

Android 13

Which version of system do you use? Khadas official images, self built images, or others?

Khadas and self-built image`

Please describe your issue below:

Kodi can’t play DTS-HD MA videos.
Enabled passthough audio settings in Kodi Audio Settings and also enabled HDMI Bitstream and enabled audio codecs in TvSettings.

The videos play in slow motion with freezes.
The audio also has dropouts, the tv displays a ‘DTS-HD’ logo for sound every 10-15 seconds. It must only display such logo once when the video starts.

Trailer 1 1920×804|HEVC YUV444 10 bit|DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, AC3 5.1|MKV|
Trailer 1 1920×804|HEVC YUV422 10 bit|DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, AC3 5.1|MKV|
Trailer 1 1920×804|HEVC YUV420 10 bit|DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, AC3 5.1|MKV|

Only the Trailer 1 1920×804|HEVC YUV420 10 bit| file plays correctly.
The YUV422 & YUV444 ones play in slow motion and freezes with audio dropouts.

After playing any of these videos then any other video you play also has no sound.
You have to reboot Edge2 to have sound again.

This is a big problem since you can’t use Edge2 as a media player at the moment with these audio and video bugs.

Hello @mo123

@goenjoy will help you then.

@mo123 I have had my testing team colleagues verify and did not find the issue you mentioned. But our system does not have a TvSettings application, so we did not set up this application. Why do you want to open this setting? Can’t we not open it?

@goenjoy

I sent you a DM with more information.

Connect a USB keyboard and press ‘o’ during Kodi playback to see if things are being hardware or software decoded. The description reads rather like YUV420 is being decoded in hardware and everything else is being software decoded. Or perhaps the TV is supporting 420 but not 422/444 on the HDMI port being used.

On other RK3588 devices with Android 12 the 2 files play correctly.
They just have some audio dropouts.
So it must be an Android 13 problem.
Might need to wait for Rockchip to release code updates and Khadas to use it.

I can’t test on Edge Android 12 rkr12 since it doesn’t support audio passthrough, Rockchip only added it in rkr14. Khadas switched over to Android 13 and stopped Android 12 support.

On Amlogic S922x, they play fine without any audio or video problems.

I will check the Kodi log.
