Advice on supported Kernel versions

Hi,

Can I get some advice on what Kernel versions are supported/recommended with Vim3?

I’m trying to get librealsense compiled so that I can use an Intel Realsense T265 camera. I’ve successfully got this working with an rpi 4 so the vim3 should be able to handle it without any issues.

The problem I’ve run into is the supported kernels for librealsense are -

  • (4.4.0-…, 4.8.0-…, 4.10.0-… , 4.13.0-…or 4.15.0-… as of May 2018)
  • Adding Ubuntu Kernel 4.18 support. Non-LTS Kernel 5.0 is also supported with manual installation.

From what I can see the only kernel versions for Vim3 are 4.9, 5.3 and 5.5

Is there a straightforward way of upgrading the kernel version on the Vim3 (ideally from 4.9 - 4.15) and if I do this will I lose support for the NPU?

Cheers,
Chris

Hello @ChrisOxon
Currently, NPU only supports 4.9 kernel. Upgrading the kernel may affect the use of NPU. We haven’t tested the details

Hi @Frank,

I’m happy to test myself, if you can point me in the right direction for updating the kernel that uboot uses.

Cheers,
Chris

@ChrisOxon Hello, VIM3 just support 4.9 or the latest main line . You can’t update directly through the source code of the corresponding version.
