I am now retired/disabled and have been modding since my wife bought me the just released Atari 400. In short order I had replaced the membrane keyboard with the B-400 full-stroke conversion and upgraded the 16K to 48K.
In the mid 80s a back injury forced me out of the local factories and I began attending IT courses at our local community college. When my professor (also head of the entire IT dept.) found out that I was doing things on a “toy” computer (Atari 800XL with 128k additional ram internal, a mult-io interface with a 512K ramdisk, IBM compatible printer port, standard RS-232 port, 9600 baud modem and hard disk interface, a 48m SCSI hard drive and three different heavily modded floppy drives of different types and sizes) that his IBM customers couldn’t do (they all still had monochrome screens and 21m or less hard drives), he offered me a job and I quickly moved up to service manager in his company. For reasons I won’t go into, I left after almost four years but am grateful for the experience.
The Khadas VM2 has me the most excited I have been in many years. I am anxiously waiting to get all my orders in and get started. I am sure I will be checking in here for tips and info.
