Xplay going to sleep and charging

Hello,

I have a Mind 1 and a Mind 2 and I am looking forward to buy a Xplay. I have read a comment on Amazon about a charging problem when in suspension mode:

“If the Mind and the XPlay go to sleep and the charging cable is only plugged into the XPlay, the Mind will not receive any power and its battery will run out”

If this issue true or already resolved, or are you going to resolve it in the future?

Daniel

Hey Daniel! That’s a great question before investing in an xPlay.

Yes, that charging quirk with suspension mode is a known hardware power-routing limitation between the modular Mind unit and the xPlay dock. When the system enters deep sleep or suspension while power is connected exclusively to the xPlay port, the power management controller sometimes fails to properly pass the charge through to keep the main Mind unit’s battery topped up, leading to a drained battery over long idle periods.

Khadas has addressed several power-state bugs via firmware and Mind App updates, but since it involves hardware power delivery handshakes, it’s always best to plug your charger directly into the Mind unit if you plan on leaving it in sleep mode for a long time. Hope this helps clear it up!

Many thanks for the answer uredla!

If I plug the USB-C charging cable directly into the Mind unit while both the xPlay and the Mind are in deep sleep, will the display will also keep its battery charged (with no cable plugged in the xPlay)?
