Unless I use the cable shipped with the unit. Firmware is 1.40. tried multiple USB C cables, USB A to C cables, and various ports and wall wart chargers. Any thoughts?

Hello, The Tone Board uses USB2 protocols on the USB-C port, USB-C to USB-C will not work.
Not sure why the USB-A to USB-C cable did not work. Some Apple users with USB-C only, have had success with a USB-C to USB-A adapter/converter.
Avoid PD/QC type chargers/power supplies on the TB.
