OpenWRT VIM1 with not working USB

Hello friends,

long time no see. Well I was the guy with the old VIM1, that had a sudden USB Port death. While not wanting to throw away this device, I wonder, if I cannot turn it into something useful.
My idea was to build a tiny travel router running OpenWRT on it.
So flashed the SD Card, throw it in - but no luck, it prints out an error, that there is no USB Hub (yes I know…).

hub 2-0:1.0:config failed hub doesnt have any ports (err -19)

thermal read num_of_pp failed

and than reboots endlessly.

Is there some way, to get OpenWRT booting? For any hints Im thankful to get it back to life.

Regards

plz show more logs! where u get stack?!

This is everything I can provide you, and sorry in advance I cannot copy it in clear text and have to use this shitty image…

And thank you for your lightning fast answer!

still cant clarify your problem !!!

Alright! But can I install OpenWRT with Krescue without USB Ports anyways? As far as I know I have to use a keyboard for installing it on the GUI or am I wrong?

Krescue same works without keyboard ! https://dl.khadas.com/Firmware/Krescue/system/README-rescue-access.txt

PS: u need just successful start krescue

Okay, since I had a running ubuntu mate on it, i can ssh into the Vim1. I looked for the available krescue images, but there is no openwrt anymore listed so i changed the download location to whats on your servers… any idea how to proceed? Sorry, i act like an idiot

This is what I got:

root@Khadas:~# curl -sfL dl.khadas.com/.mega | sh -s - -A VIM1 Khadas.OpenWrt.servers.last.emmc.kresq > /dev/mmcblk0

[i] VIM1 detected
[i] auto detect unsafe write to rootfs bootable device and set force system RO
[w] plz use -Y or -y for unsafe writes /dev/mmcblk0
root@Khadas:~# curl -sfL dl.khadas.com/.mega | sh -s - -Y VIM1 Khadas.OpenWrt.servers.last.emmc.kresq > /dev/mmcblk0
[i] VIM1 detected
[i] auto detect unsafe write to rootfs bootable device and set force system RO
[i] system goto RO only

[i] download Krescue system (VIM1) from https://dl.khadas.com/Firmware/Krescue/system/VIM1.krescue.sd.img.gz

When I reboot the device, I get a bluescreen but at least I see it on my router with an valid ip. When I try to ssh into krescue, then it says connection refused…

  1. if openwrt was installed u need remove sd card - and reboot ! - and connect to your vim device check new AP with wifi sid openwrt-vim (its must works as wifi router)

  2. last krescue version - have firewall for income ethernet - u can change it (for example via UART serial or USB net)

  3. krescue and openwrt - same have usb otg network - just plug your vim board to PC can u can get access via USB (its allways must works )

goodLUG
