My phone shows a different icon when the wifi 6 is connected, you could use something like that to verify. There are also wifi analyzer apps, or tools you could use to verify the signal.
If you are looking for something software based;
sudo nmtui
might give you more information about the hotspot’s configuration.
sudo ip a

There are wifi scan tools out there that can also I’m sure tell you what the attributes of the connection are that they’re seeing
