Ethernet connection via gold finger connector

I need connect a RF modem ethernet 10/100 output to EDGE processor via gold finger connector
DO I NEED a magnet or can be connected the 4 wire directly.

The Edge SBC built-in Gigabit Ethernet PHY, but magnet still needed on carrier board, you can refer the schematic of Captain for the details.

the captian board is using the magnet for the ethernet connector to the outer world
I don’t need it .
my need is connecting the SBC to a my on-board RF modem pDDL2450.

Please advice.
