Hello everyone. As you might know airlines have recently changed regulations concerning power banks. I own a Mind 2s, but now I cannot use it during flights anymore, because one has to power it using a power bank when travelling. Consequently under current conditions I would rather buy a laptop than a Mind, because I like to travel.
However I believe there might be a way around this. Namely Khadas could produce a battery-dock. So just an external battery that is connected via the port on the bottom, and fixed in place so that it cannot be disconnected (like the mind xPlay portable display). Maybe with the ability to forward the mind-link to the xPlay display.
Maybe with more ports, like the normal dock, especially headphones jack. Maybe not, does not really matter. Should have an ability to show remaining battery time, unless the mind-link port can somehow forward that battery state as the main battery state to the OS when the battery-dock is connected. It should have a usb-c for charging and for powering usb-c in case one wants to use it as a normal power bank.
Khadas should propably get that dock certified with the IATA or something, so that it counts like a normal laptop battery at least. But I think it would be worth doing that, because this issue drastically decreases the market value of the mind. And having it (and the mind itself) certified as flight safe, might be another selling argument.
That’s a brilliant idea for a battery-dock! Airline power bank restrictions really do hurt the portability of the Mind series, so an officially certified snap-on base would completely solve the travel issue and make it a true laptop replacement. Khadas should definitely look into this.
