Random MAC Addresses

Using any of the Nougat images I get random MAC addresses in both Android and LE, rather than the default 00:15:18:01:81:31 I get with Marshmallow (currently reverted to 170603).

Also with the Nougat base LE fw_printenv does show the default MAC correctly and not the random MAC shown with ip link.

Is this expected?

I have a huge problem with a set of Khadas Vim recently purchased. They all have the same serial numbers and Ethernet MAC addresses. How do I get an original MAC address at least so the system doesn’t come into conflict on the network?

I am not sure how that is relevant to my post I don’t mind the hard coded 00:15:18:01:81:31 right now I only have one VIM and no serial cable, the problem seems to be Nougat boot loader it is not using that value correctly from the environment. Marshmallow loader works fine.
